It is so much harder to write than to read! Whenever I take a break from my regular posting schedule, it’s always because I’m in the middle of a story I can’t put down. I think, well this is so good I’m sure to write about it once I finish…and then when I finally turn that last page, every word seems inadequate.
It’s as if some books deserve a moment of silence, and it’s not as if the best and the brightest all get this treatment. When I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, I would not shut up about how much I loved it and how much everyone I’d ever met should read it immediately. Heck, I didn’t even wait until I’d completely finished!
But sometimes, there’s a necessary sifting through of emotions and resorting of mental states and you can’t quite articulate your opinion right away. I guess I’ve been reading a lot of these, lately.
I’ve been trying to force past my hesitancy and come up with—if not a review—at least something that links these three titles. But starting with “I liked them” seems not only tepid but somewhat inaccurate considering the range of emotions I’ve experienced with them. And when I move beyond that, all I can come up with is “affecting.” Brilliant, eh? It’s a good thing we’re not a review blog!
I guess in conclusion, I wanted you to know I haven’t forgotten about the blog, I’ve just been recently rendered speechless. I will try to be back to my regularly scheduled Tuesday posts next week 🙂
